La Pavoni Europiccola, Professional

The lever machine. Mechanically simple, beautiful, and built in Milan for sixty years. Many from the 1970s are still in daily use, and every seal is replaceable.

Which version do you have?

Collectors group them by generation. The base, switch and boiler cap tell you the era.

VersionYearsHow to recognise it
Pre-millennium1961–1999Smaller 49 mm group, lever fulcrum on the group, various switch styles
Millennium2000–today51 mm group, plastic piston sleeve, pressure stat on Professional

Typical faults

  • Water leaks past the piston during the pull. Piston seals, the classic 20-minute job.
  • Lever feels rough or sticks. Dry piston; lubricate with food-safe grease.
